A senior Pakistani politician has claimed that the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan could trigger the third world war as he called on the governments of the two nations to act against all terror groups and evil circles.
Awami National Party (ANP) central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain made the claims as he was speaking during a press conference on Monday.
He urged the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to bring changes in their foreign policies for the sake of regional peace and stability.
Condemning the deadly twin bombings in Kabul, Mr. Hussain sai there were no “good or bad” Taliban but Pakistan and Afghanistan should eliminate all social evils with mutual cooperation and coordination, according to The News Internationals.
He went on to claim that “Superpowers including Russia, China and USA are fighting in Afghanistan but Pakhtuns on both sides are becoming victims of their war.”
The senior politician also added that if the situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan was not controlled, there could be a Third World War, which would not spare anyone in the region.
Hussain also expressed concerns regarding the deteriorating situation along the Durand Line and said restrictions on the Torkham border severely affected business between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said that if Afghanistan found another alternative route for import and export with India and Central Asian countries, Pakistani markets would collapse.
