Mohammad Jawad Peikar on Sunday assumed charge as the acting minister of Urban Development and Land Ministry, a day after President Ghani issued separate decrees approving the merger of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and Independent Land Directorate.
Mr. Peikar was introduced to the Ministry of Urban Development and Land during a ceremony which was attended by the Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish.
The Administrative Office of the President on Saturday said President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has approved the merger of the Independent Land Directorate with the Ministry of Urban Development.
According to a presidential decree issued from the Administrative Office of the President, the merger of the Independent Land Directorate with the Ministry of Urban Development has been approved as per the Article 84 of the Constitution of Afghanistan.
The decree states that the merger has been approved in a bid to implement reforms in the administrative sector and prevent the inflation of the growing parallel administrative directorates.
In a separate decree, President Ghani has approved the appointment of the Independent Land Directorate Mohammad Jawad Peikar as the acting Minister of Urban Development and Land Ministry as per the Clause 11 of the Article 64 of Afghan constitution.
