Over 90 school girls poisoned in northern Afghanistan

According to local authorities in northern Sar-e-Pul province of Afghanistan at least 90 school girls were poisoned in Rahmatabad high school in this province.

A spokesman for 303 Pamir Security Commandment in northern regions Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai said the students were poisoned on Monday morning while they entered to their classes.

Mr. Ahmadzai further added the students were immediately taken to hospital and their health condition is satisfactory.

This comes as Afghan president Hamid Karzai expressed concerns regarding poisoning school students and called it a move by enemies of Afghanistan.

Several school girls have been poisoned across the country including northern Takhar, Kunduz and Bamiyan provinces of Afghanistan recently.

Local security officials blame Taliban group for attacking school students in Afghanistan however Taliban militants following a statement last month denied the allegations.
