Afghan defense ministry on Sunday announced that Afghan national army soldiers have conducted over 2000 military operations across the country during the current Afghan month.
According to a statement released by defense ministry media office, Afghan army soldiers conducted around 2,224 military operations in various parts of the country.
The source further added at least 443 militants were killed during the operations and 581 others were injured or detained.
The statement also added over 100 Afghan soldiers were also killed during the operations.
There has been a surge in militants attacks across the country including capital Kabul since the Taliban group announced its summer offensive.
According to Afghan defense officials Taliban militants have deployed a large number of fighters to Afghanistan after closing its religious Madrasas in Pakistan.
Defense ministry spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi told reporters in capital Kabul earlier last week, “Based on our information, Taliban has closed all its religious Madrasas in Pakistan and Taliban has deployed all its fighters in Afghanistan to carry out insurgency and suicide attacks.”
