The Armed Violence Archive in the United States has reported an increase in armed violence in 2023, emphasizing that 42,865 people have been killed as a result of this violence across the country.

The organization, in a published report, has stated that the mortality rate from gun violence in 2023 has been unprecedented in the past three decades.

According to the report, 18,775 people have been killed in various violence, including murders and mass shootings, and 24,090 people have committed suicide with guns.

The report shows that the number of people injured by guns in 2023 has increased by 50 per cent, reaching a total of 36,218 individuals.

The American Armed Violence Archive added that in 2023, the country witnessed 650 mass shootings, which is more than an eight per cent increase compared to the year 2020.

This is even though the United States Congress passed a gun control bill in June of the previous year, which was endorsed by the President of the country.
