Taliban on Friday confirmed the death of Osama bin Laden by U.S. troops during a raid in northeast Pakistan. The admission by the Taliban comes on the heels of one earlier in the day by al Qaeda, the bin Laden terrorist network that carried out the deadly attack in 2001.
In a statement released by Taliban, says, “During an unexpected attack by the American invading soldiers, Osama bin laden embraced martyrdom as per the Will of the Almighty Allah.”
The Taliban said bin Laden’s death will give “new impetus to current Jihad.”
President Barack Obama announced Sunday that bin Laden had been killed by U.S. commandos during a raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
