The Helmand Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said in a statement that nursing and growing ornamental seedlings have started on 20 acres of land in the Anar Bagh district of the province.

Zalmai Aleko, Helmand’s director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, said that during this period of nursing training, seedlings of various fruit and seedlings of fruitless trees will be given to the province’s landowners and gardeners in the future.

Aleko says that the Helmand Department of Agriculture has recently researched how various fruit and ornamental trees, and in addition to getting good results, is now trying to grow more of these trees through Tree nursing courses and make them available to landowners and gardeners in Helmand.

The department wants to propagate and promote trees that are compatible with the soil and climate of Helmand province.

The provincial agriculture has new varieties of valuable fruits; which can provide better job opportunities for farmers and gardeners to increase their incomes, Aleko Added.

It is noteworthy, that this year, the Helmand Department of Agriculture has distributed about 100,000 saplings and about one million saplings of ornamental fruits and various other fruits were distributed with the support of private sectors in the province.
