OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, plans to introduce its artificial intelligence-powered search engine, similar to Google, on Monday.

Bloomberg and The Information have reported that OpenAI’s potential search engine aims to compete with Google and “Perplexity,” another AI-based search engine.

OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, has refrained from making any official comments on this matter.

Currently, Google is the leader among internet search engines.

Reuters has written that OpenAI will likely announce this news one day before Google’s annual meeting, scheduled for next Tuesday. Google is expected to unveil new AI-related products at this event.

According to Bloomberg, the OpenAI search engine will be an extension of the current ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to directly gather its information and citations from data available on the internet.

Technology industry observers consider ChatGPT, OpenAI’s flagship product, an alternative to internet data aggregation applications. However, this chatbot currently faces challenges in providing accurate and immediate information from the Internet.

Previously, OpenAI connected Bing’s search engine to artificial intelligence, which is accessible to paying users.

Google has also enhanced its search engine with some artificial intelligence features.

ChatGPT was launched in late 2022 and quickly became the fastest-growing internet application at that time, with about 100 million active users per month.
