The General Directorate of Passports of the Taliban government’s Ministry of Interior announced that online passport registration services will resume in the provinces.

Passport applicants will soon be able to access the online form for receiving passports in the provinces as well, according to Sher Shah Quraishi, Deputy Director of Passport, who made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday, August 23.

According to Taliban official, Quraishi, the resumption of the online passport registration will ensure that applicants receive their passports on time and avoid overcrowding and heavy workload in the central passport office.

He stated that “with the activation of online passport registrations, provincial residents will be able to receive their passports on the dates provided in their online forms.”

The Taliban passport official also said that services for foreign nationals to renew their visas will also be offered online.

Quraishi added that 350 people have been arrested and handed over to the respective judicial bodies while stating that the department has continually worked to stop corruption and falsification.

The official claimed that some of the passport office employees who had been involved in corruption had been sacked in an effort to accomplish their goal of reducing corruption.

Since the Taliban took control, one of the busiest government agencies is the Passport Department, a department of the Ministry of Interior.
