The Chief Executive of the Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah has said that one of the regional countries is seeking to turn Afghanistan into a puppet state.
Speaking to a group of reporters in Kabul on Monday, Abdullah said “Is there a country in the region that to see its interests in persistent war in Afghanistan? Is it the international community that seeks persistent war? Unfortunately, one of the regional countries want a puppet government or the country be ruled by a weak government.”
Abdullah admitted that the government has not been able to find a solution to the issue and the condition that exists is not acceptable to the people of Afghanistan.
He also added that the consensus that existed after the fall of Taliban regime does not exist anymore since the situation has changed regionally and globally.
According to Abdullah, various stances exist in this regard but engagements exist between Afghanistan and some countries specifically with the United States and NATO which remain established and resolute.
He said last year’s NATO summit resulted into renewed commitment of the international community to Afghanistan.
