According to local sources in Badakhshan, a car drove off the road, killing one child and injuring three other people. Meanwhile, local Taliban officials in Maidan Shahr, the center of Maidan Wardak province, said one person has died and another has been injured in a car accident in the province.

Officials at Maidan Wardak Provincial Hospital report that a body was brought to the hospital on Tuesday, 7th of June, following a traffic accident in the province.

Local sources in Badakhshan also claim that late Monday, June 6, a car belonging to Mawlawi Kefayatullah, the head of the 5th Battalion of Taliban Unit 219th 3rd Division, strayed from the road in the Yaftal district of the province, killing a child.

Mawlawi Kefayatullah and two others were wounded in the incident, however, Kefayatullah’s child died.

According to sources, the driver’s recklessness was the cause of the first accident in Badakhshan, nonetheless no information on the nature of the accident in Maidan Shahr is available.

In recent months, the rate of accidents resulting in passenger fatalities has increased significantly, and the cause has yet to be established by the relevant institution or through a proper research.

The main causes of road accidents in Afghanistan include traffic rule violations, deteriorating roadways, carelessness, and the absence of traffic signs, with people dying every day.
