Officials Nab 2 with 100kg Opium Stuffed in Vehicle

LAGHMAN, Afghanistan – The Counter Narcotic Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) has arrested at least two suspects over drug trafficking in eastern province of Laghman, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement Sunday.

According to the statement, the suspects had “skillfully” stuffed some 100 kilograms of opium in a vehicle, which they wanted to carry out of domestic border from the province.

“Two drug smugglers arrested & 100kg of opium seized after CNPA carried a search operation in Mehtarlam City of Laghman province,” said the MoIA in a tweet. “The two had skillfully placed the drugs in a vehicle.”

Official did not provide further details on the suspects’ identity, but said their cases have been refereed to related organs for further investigation.
