Afghan president Hamid Karzai and US US Secretary of State John Kerry have agreed a final version of the bilateral security agreement between the two nations.
Presidential palace spokesman, Aimal Faizi said Tuesday that the agreement was reached between president Karzai and John Kerry during a telephone conversation.
The last-minute deal was reached two days before Afghanistan’s elite gathers to vote on the pact.
Faizai said, US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that president Barack Obama will write a letter to the Afghan people, which will acknowledge mistakes made during the “war on terror” and the suffering of the Afghan people.
He also added that the letter will be presented during the national grand council (Loya Jirga), along with the bilateral security agreement draft on Thursday.
According to Faizai, Obama will make a commitment through the letter that mistakes which have taken place in the past will not be repeated, if the grand council (Loya Jirga) approves the military operations and allow US troops to search the homes during the operations.
