The National Procurement Commission chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani approved eleven procurement contracts having a total value of 2.22 billion Afghanis.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the latest NPC meeting was organized on Sunday evening during which 12 procurement matters were reviewed, out of which 11 contracts were approved.

The contracts approved during the meeting include road construction of phase-2 road from Bagram two-lane road to Jaba Siraj with a length of 25.6 kilometers, procurement of two firefighting vehicles for Farah and Nimroz custom houses, and procurement of 186 medical products and laboratory reagents for Chief of Staff medical facility.

Other contracts approved during the meeting include procurement of 37 various types of equipment for the expansion work of the 9th network of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim Military Academy, procurement of 13 food items for the headquarters and units of Shamshad 202 Zone, procurement of 2,624 metric tons of improvised wheat seeds for six provinces, and two other contracts for the Ministry of Interior.

According to ARG Palace, President Ghani instructed the Ministry of Defense to include the health issues and medical care of the Afghan soldiers as an ‘urgent’ issue in their operations.

President Ghani also thanked the members of the delegation who were tasked to work on establishment of National Procurement Commission Institute and had recently visited United Kingdom, ARG Palace said, adding that President Ghani called this a good step for the standardization and professionalization of the procurement procedures, and subsequently approved the recommendation for the allocation of land for the construction of the institute.
