KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Police arrested a “notorious gang leader”, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement Sunday, who is suspected of multiple crimes, including murder.

“ANP arrested a notorious gang leader in Kabul City,” said MoIA in a tweet. “The gang leader was identified as Shir Siasang & he was involved in kidnapping, murder & armed robbery in Kabul City.”

Officials did not provide further details, but said Siasang is brought into the custody for further investigation.

Afghan National Police arrested at least seven men in multiple charges from different parts of the capital, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement Sunday.

According to the ministry, the suspects are brought into Kabul custody after security personnel were dispatched in different parts of the capital, including Police District 6 that is known for growing criminal offenses more recently.  

“Seven suspects involving in different criminal cases were arrested during several separate raids carried out by ANP in PD#1, PD#2, PD#4, PD#6, PD#9 & PD#11 of Kabul City.” said MoIA in a tweet.

Arrest came days after the Ministry gave a “shoot” order to local police, after Kabul resident demonstrated wide-spread concern over armed robberies and kidnapping throughout the city.
