Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the coming days, as confirmed by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The meeting, set to occur within days, will involve comprehensive discussions between delegations, potential one-on-one talks between the leaders, and a formal dinner hosted by the Russian president for his North Korean counterpart, as stated by the Kremlin spokesman in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The meeting “could take place within days. It will be a full-blown visit, with talks between the two delegations, and afterwards, if need be, the leaders will continue to communicate one-on-one. Also, a formal dinner is planned on behalf of the president of Russia in honour of the North Korean guest,” Peskov said, reported by TASS.

During the upcoming talks, bilateral relations will be a top priority, emphasized Peskov, underlining the significance of this diplomatic engagement.

“The DPRK is our neighbour. Of course, like with any other neighbour, we regard it as our duty to build good, mutually beneficial relations. That is what we do, and President Putin does consistently,” Peskov added.

Kim Jong Un’s imminent official visit to Russia, extended upon Vladimir Putin’s invitation, was previously confirmed by the Kremlin. The forthcoming meeting underscores the diplomatic significance of their engagement, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations as a critical agenda item.
