BALKH, Afghanistan – At least one women killed and further five, including children, wounded during a blast in Northern Province of Marzar-e-Sharif, local authorities confirmed.
Adel Shah Adel, spokesman for the local police, said the blast went off Saturday evening at around 7pm in Police District 1 of the Mazar-e-Sharif city.
According to the police, the explosive device was previously embedded in a cart, which went off at a time security forces convoy was crossing the area.
Meanwhile, in another news form Paktika, a landmine has reportedly wounded at least 20 people, including women and children, in Jani Khail district of Paktika.
Shah Mohammad Aryan, spokesman for the local police, said the blast occurred near a wedding hall.
Victims are all civilians and are landed at hospitals soon after the blast, according to Aryan, with some in severe condition.
No individual or group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
