A group of ten artillerymen graduated after completing their training in Herat province of Afghanistan.

The NATO-led Resolute Support Mission posted a brief statement earlier this evening confirming that ten Afghan artillerymen concluded training last week in Herat province.

The statement further added that NATO remains committed to support the Afghan Forces in paving a way towards a political settlement of the conflict.

The graduation of the new artillerymen could prove pivotal in providing indirect fire support to the armed forces.

The Afghan armed forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations across the country during recent months.

The military officials had earlier said that military pressure would be maintained on militant groups until they (militants) opt negotiations over violence.
