New Chief of Secretariat Appointed for Election Commission of Afghanistan

The New Chief of Secretariat for the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan has been appointed, sources privy of the development confirmed.

According to the informed sources, Ahmad Shah Zamanzai has been appointed as the new Chief of Secretariat of the Independent Election Commission by the leaders of the Government of National Unity.

The sources further added that the list of the candidates for the Independent Election Commission was forwarded to the government leader few days earlier and Mr. Zamanzazi was appointed as the new Chief Secretariat by the government leaders.

A spokesman for the Independent Election Commission Syed Hafizullah Hashemi also confirmed that Mr. Zamanzai has been appointed as the new Secretariat Chief of the Commission by the government.

This comes as Shahla Haq was previously serving as the acting head of the Secretariat of Independent Election Commission.

However, she resigned from her position due to her opposition with the stickers in national identity cards of the voters.

Ms. Haq assumed the charge of the Elections Commission Secretariat after the former Secretariat Chief of the Commission Imam Mohammad Warimach was dismissed from his position.
