NDS seize over 6,000 kgs of explosives enroute to Paktika from South Waziristan

Afghan intelligence operativesThe Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) thwarted deadly attack plot by the anti-government armed militant groups by confiscating a huge amount of explosives.

A statement by NDS said around 7 tons of explosives were seized by NDS operatives shortly after it crossed into Paktika province from South Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan.

The statement further added that the Haqqani terrorist network was looking to use the explosives to carry out deadly attack in Logar province.

The terrorist had placed the explosives in a truck by covering them with woods and were looking to transport them to Logar province through Orgun district, NDS added.

The statement by NDS also added that a suspect identified as Sabir Gul son of Raees was also detained in connection to the transportation of the explosives.

According to NDS, the type of explosives which Haqqani network wanted to transport to Logar province was that Ammonium Nitrate which is widely used by militants in suicide attacks and roadside bombings.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
