A NATO soldier was killed following militants attack in western Afghanistan on Saturday.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement confirmed, “An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed during an attack by an enemy of Afghanistan in western Afghanistan today.”
The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased soldier.
ISAF generally do not disclose idenities of the NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”
Troops mainly from Italy are based in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
At least 81 NATO service members including 61 US troops, 6 British troops and 14 soldiers from the other NATO member countries have been killed in various incidents across the since the beginning of 2012.
