NATO soldier killed following blast in ISAF camp

A coalition service member was killled following an explosion in a NATO camp in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday.

NATO-led International Security Assistance Force following a statement announced, “An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of an explosion on an ISAF camp in southern Afghanistan today.”

The source further added, “The cause of the explosion in unknown, however, there is no current indication that the explosion was a result of enemy activity. ISAF officials are investigating the incident.”

The statement did not disclose furhter information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased solider.

International Security Assistance Force generally do not disclose identities of the NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”

At least 380 NATO service members including 290 US troops, 44 British troops and 46 soldiers from the other NATO member countries have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2012
