Chief of NATO Jens Stoltenberg talked with Afghan president Ashraf Ghani in a telephonic call and said they will support the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

The NATO chief expressed concern over the challenging security situation in Afghanistan.

Jens Stoltenberg reiterated that negotiated settlement is the only means for solving the 20-year misery in Afghanistan.

He said NATO’s mission of training, advising, and assisting the Afghan forces will continue.

A Twitter post the NATO chief posted reads that the NATO member states will continue supporting, funding, and training the Afghan government Forces out of the country.

The post further reads that the people of Afghanistan will too be given support from the member states of NATO.

NATO reiterates its pledge to support ANDSF at a time when the foreign troops’ presence is planned to be zero in Afghanistan by September.

United States along with NATO are committed and have promised to give Afghanistan $4 billion every year until 2024.
