Following the reports of Iran supplying Russia with missiles and drones, NATO said that Russian President “Putin is failing in Ukraine”, calling on all countries – including Iran – not to support Russia in its “illegal” war against Ukraine.

The NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, in a press conference on Thursday, October 20, stated that while Russia is failing in Ukraine, the Russian president has not “given up on his brutal war of aggression.”

According to the NATO top official, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is an “attack on an independent sovereign nation in Europe,” prompting NATO allies to “unprecedentedly” provide stepped-up support to Ukraine.

“President Putin made a big mistake by invading Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said in the press conference.

With regard to the reports of Iran providing supplies to Russia, the NATO official stated that “every indication points to Iran supplying Russia with these drones.”

While NATO allies generously provide military assistance to the in-war Ukraine, Iran’s provision of supplies to Russia according to Stoltenberg is a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

The NATO Secretary-General, spoke at a press conference in the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, the Belgian capital, alongside the newly elected Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, who expressed utmost commitment to NATO.
