NATO helicopter crash in southern Helmand province

NATO-led International Security Assistance Force following a statement on Thursday announced a NATO helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan, April 19.

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and casualties as a result of the incident.

ISAF said, “The crash site is secured; the cause is under investigation. Additional information will be released as appropriate.”

In the meantime a US military officer in southern Afghanistan said the helicopter was used to transport the injured Afghan police officers and crashed due to bad weather condition, killing 4 on board.

Ismail Hotak coordinative deputy commander for the armed forces in Helmand proivnce said, the helicopter was transporting individuals who were injured following a suicide bomb blast on Thursday evening at Helmand province and crashed due to bad weather conditions.

He also said at least 5 Afghan police service members were killed and 7 others were injured following the explosion at Garmsir district.
