Resolute Support issued a statement following the attack and said “Headquarters Resolute Support strongly condemns the attack by Taliban militants that killed several civilians and wounded dozens more outside the offices of the Ministry of Justice May 19, 2015.”
“The Taliban are clearly threatened by the legitimately elected Afghan government and continue to resort to murdering civilians to achieve their goals,” said Brig. Gen. Wilson Shoffner, Resolute Support Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications.
The statement further added “On behalf of General Campbell, Headquarters Resolute Support expresses its condolences to the victims and families affected by this act of violence by the Taliban. We remain committed to assisting our Afghan partners in achieving sustainable security and stability.”
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials said at least four people were killed and 24 others were injured in the attack.
However, the Public Health Ministry officials said at least 42 people were injured in the attack and a number of them are in critical health condition.
Eyewitnesses in the area said a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into the parking area of the Ministry of Justice.
