NATO airstrike leaves 11 Taliban militants dead in Helmand province

NATO-airstrike-kill-Taliban-militantsAccording to local authorities in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, at least eleven Taliban militants were killed following a NATO airstrike.

The officials further added that the airstrike was carried out late Sunday night in Mosa Qala district.

At least two Taliban militants were also injured following the airstrike, local officials said.

The provincial government media office following a statement said the airstrike was carried out while the Taliban militants were looking to attack check posts belonging to the Afghan national security forces.

Taliban militants group in Afghanistan has not commented regarding the report so far.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants including the Taliban fighters are actively operating in its various districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.
