Kunar provinceAccording to local authorities in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan, at least 9 Taliban militants were killed during NATO airstrike in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman, Mohammad Ghani confirming the report said that the militants were killed in separate airstrikes in Wataput and Chapa Dara districts.

Mr. Ghani further added that the operations were carried out late Saturday night, leaving four militants dead in Wataput and five others were killed in Chapa Dara district.

He said, the civilians did not suffer any casualties in the airstrikes and only the suspected militants were targeted.

Kunar is among the volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where militants both from Afghanistan and other countries including Pakistan are openly operating in it’s various districts.

Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the death of nine militants in NATO airstrike.
