The governor of the eastern Nangarhar province Mohammad Gulab Mangal has reportedly resigned from his position.

The local officials have not formally commented regarding the decision of Mr. Mangal to step down as the governor of Nangarhar so far.

However, sources privy of the development are saying that Mr. Mangal has submitted his resignation letter to the Independent Directorate of the Local Governance.

Nangarhar governror’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani later confirmed that the governor has stepped up down from his position.

Reports regarding the resignation of Mangal follows hours after a coordinated attack was launched on Nangarhar Customs Department in Jalalabad city.

The provincial public health directorate officials are saying that the dead bodies of at least 9 people have been shifted to the hospitals so far.

The officials further added that the attack has also left at least thirty people wounded.
