Nangarhar to produce 400 tons of honey this year, worth 100 million Afghanis: officials

Officials in eastern Nangarhar province are estimating that honey production will rise to four hundred tons this year which would generate a revenue of up to 100 million Afghanis.

The head of Honey Farms Association in Nangarhar province Riaz Mohammad said 350 Honey Bees Farms are operational in Nangarhar province, employing around 1,400 people on direct basis while creating indirect job opportunities for 14,000 other people in this province.

Riaz further added that a ton of honey is being sold for 250,000 Afghanis in the market and it is estimate the honey bees farms will supply 400 tons of honey to market this year which would produce a revenue of up to 100 million Afghanis.

According to Riaz, the production of honey will rise this year mainly due to growing farms of honey bees, good season, growing flower fields and operational honey process firms.
