Municipal court chief killedUnknown gunmen assassinated the municipal court chief for western Farah province of Afghanistan on Wednesday.

According to local government officials, Mawlavi Khudaidad was killed by unidentified men around 1:30 pm local time on Wednesday.

The provincial government media office following a statement also confirmed the report and said Mawlavi Khudaidad was also Imam of a mosque.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

This comes as Taliban militants beheaded a Mullah Imam of a mosque in Bala Bolok district of Farah province of Afghanistan on Tuesday.

Provincial governor spokesman, Jawad Afghan, said the Imam was beheaded by Taliban militants after he was accused of having links with the government.

Farah is among the relatively volatile provinces in western Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants including the Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of its district and often carry out insurgency activities.

At least four policemen belonging to Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces and a Taliban militants were killed following clashes in Posht-e-Rod district on Monday.
