The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan has announced that Munera Yousufzada formally assumed charge as deputy minister of defense for personnel and training.

According to a statement released by Ministry of Defense (MoD), Yousuzada was introduced to the ministry officials and personnel during a ceremony earlier today.

Speaking during the introduction ceremony of Yousufzada, the acting minister of defense Asadullah Khalid said several women are serving in various departments of the ministry of defense but this is first time a woman is assuming charge in a leadership level of the ministry.

Khalid further added that he has full confidence on Yousufzada’s capabilities and is confident that she will support and resolve the issues of soldiers and family members of the fallen soldiers.

In the meantime, Yousufzada said she will prioritize assistance to the families of the fallen soldiers besides working on plans to reduce casualties among the armed forces.

Yousufzada further added that the ministry will closely work with the families of the fallen soldiers, assist with job creation and provide other support to their families if needed.
