National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Kabul confirmed that Mullah Abdul Rawouf Khadim has been killed along with four of his comrades in Kajaki District of southern Helmand Province.
A statement issued by the NDS states that Mullah Abdul Rawouf Khadim was commander of the Islamic States (IS) group in southern part of the country who was killed along with four of his people in a successfully operation this afternoon.
NDS statement further states that Mullah Abdul Rawouf was one of the prime targets for security forces this month.
However, Pacha Gul Bakhtyar, Security Officer of Helmand Province had told Khaama Press earlier in the afternoon that Mullah Abdul Rawouf Khadim sustained serious injuries while four of his fighters were killed in the attack.
He said that Mullah Abdul Rawouf Khadim was traveling along with a group of his people in a Saracha vehicle when their vehicle was targeted, leaving Khadim seriously wounded and four of his people killed.
He said that Mullah Abdul Rawouf has escaped in wounded conditions.
Mullah Abdul Rawouf Khadim, and Ex-member of the Quetta Shura had recently separated ways with Taliban, forming his own group of insurgents.
Reports surfaced that he is leading the group in support of Islamic States (IS) but there was no confirmation from him or IS to support these reports.
