isisThe majority of the militants fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Afghanistan are coming from Pakistan, Central Asian and Gulf countries.

The National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar informed regarding the issue during a visit to the eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday.

The visit by Atmar followed five days after the loyalists of the terror group launched a major attack on police check posts in Kot district.

Atmar further added that the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) are ready to suppress the insurgency activities of the terror group in the country.

He said the foreign militants including Pakistanis are holding the Identity Cards of their country.

Atmar hailed the Afghan security forces for their quick response to repulse the attack by ISIS militants in Kot district, insisting that the Middle Eastern countries are struggling with the terror group despite ongoing offensive since two years.

The National Security Adviser also emphasized on a regional combat against the terrorism, insisting that the terrorists are a regional threat and Afghan government has asked for the collective and well coordinated regional efforts to fight it.

He said he will visit Russia in the near future to meet with the country’s officials and seek Moscow’s support to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
