Nangarhar provinceAt least six people including three children and three women were injured following a mortar fire in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The incident reportedly took place in Khogyani district around 11am local time on Friday, after a mortar shell landed in a residential house.

Khogyani central hospital chief, Dr. Noor Agha confirmed that six people including women and children were injured following the mortar fire in this district.

Dr. Noor Agha further added that the health condition of the two individuals is critical. Local security officials have not commented regarding the incident so far.

No group has claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Nangarhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where militants are operating in a number of its districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.
