More than 60 Taliban militants were killed or wounded in various operations in the past 24 hours, the military officials said Saturday.

The Afghan Special Forces conducted a raid in Tarin Kot district of Uruzgan province killing 24 Taliban fighters and destroying 5 improvised explosive devices, informed military sources said.

The sources further added that Afghan Special Forces conducted a similar operation in Gelan district of Ghazni province killing 15 Taliban fighters.

“The Taliban fighters attacked an Afghan Police checkpoint in Nurgaram district of Nuristan province but in self defense airstrikes were used killing 8 Taliban fighters and wounding another causing the Taliban to retreat,” the sources said.

In the meantime, the sources said separate airstrikes were carried out in Bala Murghab district of Badghis and Shirzad district of Nangarhar province leaving at least 13 militants dead and two others wounded.
