More rockets fired in Kunar as Pakistan continues to cross-border shelling

Pakistan shelling AfghanistanAccording to local authorities in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan, at least 27 rockets fired from the other side of Durand Line landed in this province.

Provincial security Chief Gen. Abdul Habib Syed Khel said the rockets were fired during the past 24 hours.

Gen. Syed Khel further added that a number of houses were also damaged following the shelling; however no loss of life were reported.

This comes as Syed Khel said Monday at least 18 rockets were fired from the other side of the Durand Line in Sarkano district during the last 24 hours.

The Pakistani military continues shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan along the Durand Line despite the government of Afghanistan has called for immediate halt to cross-border incursions.

According to the local residents in Kunar and Nuristan province, dozens of people have been killed or injured following the cross-border shelling.

Sources in the ministry of defense of Afghanistan said Monday that the issue of cross-border shelling and violence across the Durand Line was also discussed the trilateral summit between Afghanistan, Pakistan and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul.
