A key member of the newly formed Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq warned that the government would face serious reactions from the political parties if their demands regarding the upcoming elections were not.
Mohaqiq made the remarks while speaking during an event organized on the occasion of the introduction of the new political coalition, Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan.
He said around 35 political parties have shared their proposal regarding the upcoming parliamentary and districts councils elections, emphasizing that the political parties want a transparent election.
Mohaqiq said the government would witness serious reactions from the political parties if their demands were not met.
Reacting to the demands and ultimatum of the political parties, President Ghani had earlier said a group cannot take decision regarding the fate of the elections, emphasizing that only the people of Afghanistan have the right to decide in this regard.
The leaders of some of the key political parties participated in a meeting two weeks ago and called on the government and the independent election commissions to invalidate the process for the registration of voters for the upcoming elections, bring changes in the elections system of the country, use the biometric system for the registration of the voters, and give more share to the political parties in the elections.
They had also said that the government must return with a positive feedback regarding their demands, warning that they would block the elections if case the government and election commission rejected their demands.
