Mohammad Nabi Eisakhil captain of the national cricket team of Afghanistan officially resigned from his post on Monday.
Eisakhil told a press conference in Kabul that the resignation does not mean he is leaving the team.
He said he after this he will continue to play as a normal player and share the experience with other players that he has received during the captaincy.
Mohammad Nabi Eisakhil who had been the captain of Afghanistan’s cricket team from the past two years told reporters that during the captaincy he was under severe pressure which had affected his playing.
He said: “At the time when I was offered, I accepted the captaincy for Afghanistan’s cricket team. During my captaincy we won several matches and qualified for world cup.”
Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman Nasimullah Danish praised the efforts of Eisakhil and said that he is not only a good captain but also a distinguished player.
Danish said that Eisakhil made the decision willingly and that he wants to continue to play as a normal player for the cricket team.
A replacement for Eisakhil is not announced yet.
