The Ministry of Defense in a released statement said that government forces inflicted heavy casualties Taliban in the Arghandab and Jiri districts of Kandahar province.
MoD stated Wednesday, that Afghan national defense and security forces backed by Afghan Air Force launched a clearance operation in Arghandab and Zherai districts of Kandahar.
At least 31 Taliban were reportedly killed and eight others were wounded during the skirmish.
According to the MoD three Taliban vehicle, and some of their weapons and ammunition were also destroyed during the battle.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense in another statement indicated that at least 35 Taliban insurgents were killed in southern Zabul.
Afghan national defense and security forces conducted a joint operation facilitated by air support in Mizan and Shahr-e-Safa districts of the province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement indicated that 35 militants were killed and further 19 affiliated Taliban members were injured during the raids and two of the group members were detained.
As many villages were cleared of the Taliban influence in Mizan district, ANDSF has seized one vehicle, seven motorcycles, and two weapons belonging to the militant group, the statement added.
In the meantime, a Taliban hideout and ammunition were wrecked and eight mines planted aimed at targeting civilians and the Afghan national army were discovered and later defused by the government security forces in Mizan district.
Taliban have not yet commented on both of the incidents.
