The Afghan Military says an operation has been launched in Khak Jabar district of Kabul province to suppress the anti-government armed militants.

The 111th Division of the Afghan National Army in Kabul said the operations, Tufan-2,were launched earlier today.

A statement by 111th Division of the Afghan Army said the Afghan forces have destroyed a vehicle and a motorcycle belonging to the militants since the launch of the operations.

The statement further added that an improvised explosive device planted by the militants was also discovered and defused during the operations.

This comes as the anti-government armed militants have been attempting to expand their insurgency activities in the key provinces, districts, and cities, including capital Kabul during the recent months.

On the other hand, the Afghan intelligence said Wednesday that a group of 11 Haqqani network militants have been arrested during separate operations in Kabul.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in a statement the militants were arrested during the operations from the 5th and 12th districts, Paghman and Bagrami districts.

According to the National Directorate of Security, the detained militants were involved in some major terrorist related activities, including attacks on government and security officials, tribal elders, and roadside bombings.
