Kabul explosionsA massive explosion rocked Kabul city in the early hours of Monday morning with preliminary reports suggesting a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) was detonated.

The incident took place around around 1:30 am local time targeting a compound, the North Gate, frequented by the foreigners.

The attack was launched by at least four militants with three of them taking position close to the compound following the massive blast to launch gun attack .

Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed the clashes ended and the hotel residents who are mainly foreigners did not suffer any casualties.

The Afghan special forces were deployed to clear the area from the militants presence and ambulances are also seen in the incident site but there are still no reports regarding the casualties.

The Taliban group claimed responsibility behind the attack and said a coordinated attack has been launched on a guesthouse of the foreigners in the city.
