Unknown gunmen shot dead a man in broad daylight, in front of his infant daughter in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

The gunmen shot dead the man in Arghandab district of Kandahar province early on Thursday, the officials said.

Gen. Tadin Khan Achakzai, the police chief of Kandahar confirmed the incident and blamed the Taliban militants for the murder.

He said the militants shot dead Amullah, the resident of Arghandab district near Mullah Gul Akhund shrine on Thursday.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest the victim was a member of the security institutions of Afghanistan and was on his way to market when the gunmen shot him dead.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incident so far.
