Provincial Appeal Court for northern Baghlan province on Sunday sentenced an individual to 16 years in prison for the charges of raping an Afghan female teacher.

Feroz, the convict committing gang rape along with a number of others to an Afghan female teacher Fahima was formally sentenced to 16 years in jail.

Chief of the provincial appeal court Mohammad Rahim Karimi told reporters, Feroz the convict who raped an Afghan female teacher has been sentenced to 16 years prison and efforts have been put in place by Afghan security forces to detain the other criminals.

Mr. Karimi further added, the verdict by the appeal court was not definite and the convict has the rights to further appeal during the upcoming court hearings.

This comes as another murder convict who assassinated his wife in Dahan-e-Ghori district was sentenced to death by preliminary court of northern Baghlan province.
