A man in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan killed his three sons, 13, 9, and 6 due to financial difficulties, said Taliban local authorities.
Local Taliban authorities said that the man, Naqibullah, killed his three sons on Saturday night, the 1st of October with a knife.
Naqibullah, according to Mullah Abdul Razzaq, the Taliban police chief in Kandahar’s Dand district, killed his three children because of financial difficulties and poverty.
The man, he continued, had grown despondent over his family’s financial situation, and the tragic incident in which he killed and buried three of his sons was a direct result of that.
The Taliban security official further said that the buried dead bodies are taken out for forensic tests and identification.
The victims were the man’s three children, who were 6, 9, and 13 years old. On Tuesday, October 4, the bodies are reportedly going to be reburied.
According to the Taliban police chief for the Dand district, people teased Naqibullah by saying that his sons had taken to begging because of the family’s poor financial situation. People’s words, according to the Taliban official, forced the man to kill his children.
In Afghanistan, poverty and unemployment have skyrocketed since the Taliban seized power, and the murder occurred at a time when many people are struggling to put food on the table due to natural disasters and the humanitarian crisis.
