Taliban security officials in Nangarhar province, in eastern Afghanistan, say that a man brutally killed his wife in the province’s capital, Jalalabad.

The husband in question, identified as Khalil Janan Khan killed his wife early on the 31st of July in Jalalabad city’s 8th district, according to security officials.

The killer was captured by Taliban security forces while he was attempting to flee, according to Haji Raees Zabuli, a Taliban spokesman for the Nangarhar police.

He said that the investigation is still currently in progress and that it is still unclear what led to this situation.

Previously, in the Afghan northern province of Faryab, a man killed his wife, who was pregnant with a seven-month baby.

In addition to that, last month, a man in the southern province of Kandahar, in an attempt to kill his ex-wife, killed two men and a woman in Kandahar’s Ayno Mina city.

Similarly, in Helmand province, in southern Afghanistan, a man beheaded his wife and three-month child, mysteriously, with the motive of the crime still unknown.

The number of reports of domestic violence resulting in homicides has dramatically increased due to a large rise in family violence and personal animosity.

In the past six months, over 100 women and girls are said to have been killed, kidnapped, or committed suicide, according to a report by the Afghanistan International news channel.
