Local Taliban commander killed in Kunduz province

According to local authorities in northern Afghanistan, a local Taliban commander was killed following armed clashes with the Afghan national police forces in northern Kunduz province.

The officials further added, the incident took place in Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province on Saturday when after a group of armed insurgents attacked a check post of the Afghan national police forces.

The Taliban commander who was killed during the clashes was recognized as Bashir, local police officials said.

Police officials also said, the remaining fighters of the Taliban group managed to flee the area.

Afghan police officials confirmed there were no civilian casualties as a result of the clashes.

Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the incident.
