Laghman Blast Claims 2, Injures Six

A magnetic mine exploded on a police vehicle in Mehtarlam, the capital of Laghman province, killing two people and injuring six others.

 A spokesman for Laghman’s governor, Asadullah Dawlatzai told media, that the blast took place Wednesday morning at the provincial police headquarters, killing eight people.

This comes despite the recent increase in the number of sticky mine blasts in Laghman province.

In an interview with BBC, Nader Nadery Afghan peace negotiator said, “It is unacceptable for our people to be suffering the way they have suffered these past three weeks with increased violence,”.

He added, if the bloodshed continues, Afghanistan might have to reassess whether “talking” whilst “fighting” is reasonable or not.

Previously, the governor and the head of the provincial council were also targeted in similar incidents, the governor safely escaped the blast, but the head of the provincial council was killed from attaining heavy injuries.
