The Ministry of Interior of Kuwait has announced that the death toll from the fire in a building housing foreign workers in the country has risen to 49.

According to reports, this incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait.

Nothing has been said yet about the nationalities of the fire victims.

Reuters, quoting the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, reported that 30 Indian workers were injured in the incident.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait stated that 47 workers are receiving treatment in hospitals.

Additionally, the Philippine Ministry of Migrant Workers confirmed that 11 workers from their country were injured in the Kuwait fire.

Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, has accused the building owner of violations leading to the fire and ordered his arrest.

The condition of some of the injured individuals is reported to be critical.

This comes as a large community of workers, especially migrants, resides in Kuwait.
