In the aftermath of a Taliban attack on a provincial capital in the northern part of the country where the city was under the siege of Taliban for a few days and clashes continued between security forces and Taliban for about 16 days, fear spread that a great threat has been facing eastern Nangarhar province since Daesh group has been spreading there.
But the province’s governor made it clear on Friday that militants neither can run over the province capital nor any district in his province.
Salim Khan Kundozi said in a gathering in Jalalabad that whoever dreaming to occupy Afghanistan need to know that their dreams would not come true.
He called on people for unity and to stand with government which ensures security and stability. He said that foreigners would not be able to secure Afghanistan but people can.
During his speech at the gathering organized to launch the tribal shura of Kunar province, Kundozi said that the enemies of Afghanistan want to present a negative image of Islam to the world.
He said they are trying to introduce Islam as a religion of barbarity in order to have people hate it, adding that they would not succeed in their evil thoughts.
He added that local government in Nangarhar needs consultation with people but would not allow private militias.
This is not in the interest of the country, he said.
